Method development for neutron imaging techniques, currently working on quantitative transmission imaging and diffractive neutron imaging. Neutron methods have a lot of potential due to the higher penetration power in crystalline materials and the high sensitivity to water compared with x-rays. Quantitative transmission imaging aims to make quantitative analysis from 2D and 3D neutron imaging data. Some of the applications are in-situ fuel cell analysis, porous media and water absorption, analysis of bulky industrial samples (engines etc), nuclear fuel evaluation, and cultural heritage (medieval swords etc.). The second one aims to resolve the orientation, position, size and shape of the individual grains in polycrystalline samples through Laue diffraction. This technique is of great interest for metallurgy in general and for analysis of weldings, turbine blades, shape-memory alloys and additive manufacturing samples in particular. Show less
