Highly clumped seed dissemination patterns around gorilla nest-sites… Show more • Developed spatio-temporal statistical models that combined data on fruiting patterns, gorilla foraging behaviors, seed dissemination patterns, and adult tree distributions to investigate the consequences of gorilla-mediated seed dispersal on the demographics and forest structure in a tropical tree community. • Research provided new data that gorilla-dispersed tree species in Central Africa are dispersal limited. Highly clumped seed dissemination patterns around gorilla nest-sites persisted late into recruitment, and accounted for the clumped distributions observed in some adult tree species. • Field work in Gabon spanned 20 months and included mentoring and training Gabonese students.
