It is my great pleasure to write a recommendation in support of Manoj Khera. I have known Manoj since the time he joined Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd in 2003. Over the period of time he has grown from being a bench chemist to a mature scientific manager capable of leading multiple project teams comprising of up to 20 chemists. His drug discovery skills are evident from the fact that his efforts have led to identification of two clinical candidates (phase 2 clinical candidate for COPD and a phase 1 clinical candidate for clostridium infection) and a few preclinical candidates also for treatment of COPD and clostridium infection. In addition to delivering projects in the late stage, Manoj also has firsthand experience of leading research projects at different stages; from early hit identification to lead optimization. Being a part of clinical development teams, Manoj also understands the nuances of CMC activities, KOL meetings, clinical trials, etc. Having worked in several international collaborative projects esp. with GSK and Daiichi Sankyo, has allowed him to learn cross cultural environment working style and imbibe the best of drug discovery aspects from world recognized international companies involved in pharma R&D. In addition to this he has also efficiently collaborated with various cross-functional teams (Pharmacology, DMPK, pre-formulations, NCE scale-up, analytical etc.) and intellectually contributed for solving critical project related issues. Manoj has demonstrated his organic synthetic skills developing novel synthetic routes (including chiral synthesis) and process development of late stage compounds. On the managerial side, Manoj has had the responsibility of managing his group’s budget. Overall, I have no hesitation in stating that Manoj will be an asset to whichever company he decides to join. I wish him all the best for his future endeavors. -Jitendra
