Iris is one of the largest UK software companies, with > £100m of revenues and > 45% EBITDA margin. The Group is private equity owned and has a robust core business which has sustained double digit growth for over 15 years. The group regularly acquires strategically relevant adjacent businesses. The finance department experienced a great deal of change in 2016 and recruited a new CFO in Nov 16 to stabilise and develop the team. The remit of the GFC role was to support the CFO to restructure and rebuild the team into a best in class function. This involved identifying immediate opportunities to improve and develop the processes and controls. Finalise the audit of 30 legal entities. Interview and recruit a strong and capable team. Recruited by MDNX to lead the Finance team and head up the business and systems integration from a financial reporting perspective. This private equity backed business was to become UK’s largest independent managed network & hosting services provider to UK businesses through acquisition and needed a team of people experienced in integration, change management and systems improvements. With a keen focus on cost efficiency it was essential to ensure the Finance team were organised and process driven in order to deliver the required results for this fast changing business. The role was responsible for developing people and processes whilst managing the integration of 3 businesses in 2011, a further acquisition in 2012 and a final acquisition in 2013 before the business was sold in 2015. During this 5 years the company grew from a £50m turnover UK SME to a £200m turnover pan European business with offices in APAC and USA. This growth involved a great deal of recruitment and training to establish a strong team to migrate and integrate the many different systems of the acquired businesses and set up a shared service centre at the companies head office, resulting in a highly efficient and results driven finance function adding bottom line value to the business.
