  As an AmeriCorps Fellow, Amanda worked for the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging to compile and analyze data for the Maturing of Illinois Report. This report was presented to the Governor’s office for vetting and is now a public document. She also began a report for the Agency focused on showing the value of the programs supported both in terms of an economic contribution as well as a way to build social capital in the community. Current Fellows are completing this multi-year study utilizing both primary and secondary data, completing both surveys and interviews and incorporating efficiency standards in response to governmental focus on Budgeting for Results. Amanda also worked for three professors assisting with research related to teaching techniques at the college level and aiding with a quantitative research methods class by grading papers, teaching classes and meeting with the over three hundred students.

  Amanda managed client relationships with assets in 401k and all 403b plans. During her tenure with the company, she attained PPC designation (Professional Plan Consultant), an ARPS designation (Accredited Retirement Plan Specialist) and assisted in streamlining processes, created training materials, completed quarterly reporting with bank reconciliations for over 60 plans, and worked in Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.   As Sales Manager of a 45 million dollar location with over 100 employees, Amanda increased Customer Loyalty scores as well as Employee Loyalty scores by 20% within 1 year. Her position was responsible for all aspects of sales in the store: created bi monthly training meetings for sales supervisors, hired all sales staff, presented meetings to the staff of over one hundred as well as to the district and regional team in Chicago with PowerPoint, and ran successful in store events like Black Friday where customer counts are quadrupled and sales expectations are high. Amanda also oversaw Geek Squad, Installation Services, Delivery and Car Audio Installation as well as the UNICEF drive and handled all local charitable assistance.

  At end of her tenure, she oversaw 4 stores in the Northern Chicago suburbs and southern Wisconsin with a 5th in the process of opening. She opened several new stores for the company requiring hiring and training a staff in a new town, setting the store with racks/merchandise, implementing follow up processes, auditing progress and overseeing upkeep. As District Manager, she had over 50 employees including 4 managers and assistant managers. Her responsibilities included all terminations, all hiring and auditing each store weekly for inventory control, training, cleanliness, customer service and building maintenance. She also oversaw a turkey giveaway for those in need at Thanksgiving and Christmas and handled all local charitable assistance.
