The UN Global Compact is special initiative of the UN Secretary-General and calls on companies to align their operations and strategies with Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. Network USA is a local chapter of the UN Global Compact, working to deliver the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through US corporate leadership. As a Climate & Environment Associate, my responsibilities include: • Supporting the Network's execution of the Climate Ambition Accelerator, a 6-month program designed to equip companies with the knowledge and skills needed to create science-based emissions reduction targets aligned with the 1.5℃ pathway. • Leading on Network climate reports and programming and communicating program progress to the United Nations Global Compact Program team. • Developing additional climate content for American companies participating in the UN Global Compact. Worked as a full-time researcher on the project "Ethnic Power Relations and Conflict in Fragile States," contributing to two edited volumes with Dr. Simon Hug and researchers from six universities worldwide (Côte d’Ivoire, Guatemala, Egypt, India, Switzerland, and Zambia). In addition, produced a 200-page report on ethnic-group control of local governments in over 140 countries and authored a working paper on climate change and horizontal inequality. Aided in the organization of the final conference of the research project during the UN's PeaceWeek and a research panel on environmental migration and conflict attended by 20 participants from the Red Cross, the United Nations, and other international actors.
