In my role at EM&C I'm involved in the planning, field investigation and the reporting of contaminated land management projects. This include a number of project types, such as; underground petroleum storage system decommissioning assessments; phase 1 & 2 environmental site assessments; remediation of contamination; pre-lease or lease exit assessments; and soil vapour and groundwater monitoring programs.

    • Minor Field Study
      • Sep 2009 - Dec 2009

Planning and conducting a heavy metal and water quality study in two river basins in Bolivia. The study included living in Bolivia for two months, working together with the University of San Andrés La Paz to measure field parameters and collect water samples from surface and groundwater. The study was conducted in an area with extensive mining activities and it focused on the impact these activities have on the local surface and groundwater quality. With large mine tailing dams located within the river basins and mines draining directly into the rivers, the study concluded that despite naturally elevated levels of heavy metals were present in surface and ground water, the mining in the area has had a major impact on the down stream water quality of the river basins.
