Graduate Researcher ● materials design & development ● corrosion testing
-
Jan 2014 - Apr 2018
●●Collaborative double Ph.D. program between the LBB, Université Laval and the Advanced Materials Research group, Politecnico di Milano●●✔Collaborated with several research groups in Canada, Italy, and United States to implement a new concept of metallic implant materials (biodegradable implants) resulting in 5+ peer-reviewed publications and 15+ oral and poster communications✔Adopted strategies for design and development of biodegradable metallic Fe- and Zn-based materials. Designed and developed successfully a wide range of alloys/composites by various thermo-mechanical treatments, improving significantly their mechanical performance and corrosion behavior✔Engineered and fabricated high strength Fe-based composites by powder metallurgy techniques, and assessed their mechanical properties such as strength, ductility and hardness, and mechanical integrity during progressing corrosion✔Manufactured innovative Zn-based biomedical alloys with outstanding mechanical performance though casting followed by extrusion and assessed their superplastic forming capability and corrosion behavior✔Established a pioneering protocol to characterize long-term corrosion of metallic biomaterials and explained their mechanisms using a variety of analytical tools such as XRD, SEM-EDS, XPS, ATR-FTIR, AES✔Provided support and expertise to graduate researchers to review their reports, oral or poster presentations and scientific publications✔Supervised and mentored internship/master students to accomplish their project. Trained them on laboratory procedures including safety, use of the equipment and statistical tools. ✔Supported researchers to successfully develop mechanical testing and corrosion validation and characterization protocols for their projects✔Manage the experimental works and the characterization in Canada and in Italy, making them realized in a timed manner, helping the teams across the ocean to be connected, work better together, and achieving the highest results
