I was fortunate enough to work with Malena during her time at Study Smart Tutors and Northern California WESTOP. Malena is a dedicated, passionate, and empathetic professional who consistently exceeds goals and builds community through her work. Malena is able to seamlessly and authentically cultivate relationships with prospects and partners, while setting the standard for positive internal culture through her leadership. I look forward to the opportunity to work with Malena again in the future!
Micaela Stevens
As Vice President of Planned Parenthood at Occidental College - the West Coast's largest and most active Planned Parenthood Generation Action Group - Malena provided an environment in which students created real change on and off campus. Malena co-founded the organization in order to raise support and awareness around reproductive rights; her efforts directly resulted in a 900% increase in executive board members (from three to 30) and a growth in efficiency. In addition to increasing membership, Malena helped developed the structure and mission of the organization, and managed several successful campaigns, fundraisers, workshops, and other events. Such projects include successful fundraisers benefitting Planned Parenthood Action Fund and the Los Angeles Downtown Women's Center; educational events to students about menstruation, STIs, and gender roles in relationships - to name a few; and a talk by the CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands. Malena excelled in her role because she inspires, supports, and pushes people to do their very best. She also consistently offered various (sometimes opposing) views about issues we tackled with, which allowed for all of us to be much more critical thinkers. Malena is a true leader, and anybody would be lucky to have her on their team. She is one of the most brilliant, compassionate, and intelligent people I have worked with. It was a pleasure to work under her during my first year in the organization, as well as to work side-by-side with her as co-presidents my second year. Through watching Malena, I learned a great deal about the type of leader I strive to be.
Becca Trombler, MS, CCRP (she/her)
Malena is an excellent karate instructor that I had the pleasure of working with for over 10 years. She provides constructive support while also creating a positive environment to best foster trust and the learning of her students. She has experience working with children and adults of all ages as well as mentally challenged individuals as well. It was my pleasure to work alongside as well as train with her for many years.
