    • Water Conservation Research Intern
      • Jan 2019 - May 2019

Under the supervision and with guidance from Dr. Kendi Borana, my team and I researched the complex relationship between the Maasai culture/people and water resources in Kimana, Kenya. The investigation was significant for understanding how Maasai cope with water-related issues in the face of rising challenges, such as climate change, water pollution, land subdivision, and increased tourism. We obtained our data through elder interviews and talking circles. We then presented this information to local community and NGO officials through a presentation/video and completed a final research paper. By gaining insight on how community-water relationships were changing, we hoped to provide the knowledge to aid in the creation of more effective management policies and community led conservation strategies.
