Makena is what we call a "rockstar intern". She showed up early for every shift, carried herself professionally and was ready to learn. Makena had the opportunity to go out on stories with live crews and observe the process of news-gathering from start to finish. By the end of her internship she was pitching story ideas that were picked up by the station. She even turned one of her stories into a PKG that aired on KCRA. She is a very quick study. She wanted to learn what it takes to be a good journalist. She also wanted to learn how a television station operates from a business stand point and took the opportunity to spend time with our sales department. Makena was a joy to have at KCRA! I'm excited to watch her journey!
