I was part on the Habanero Multicore Software Research Project (http://habanero.rice.edu/Habanero_Home.html). I extended the Habanero-C programming language with a parallel loop construct and a meta-data layout framework. The extensions I have developed are specifically aimed towards balancing portability, productivity and performance. The goal of this project is to build a highly scalable super computer which has a wide range of hardware including CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs and other customizable domain specific custom hardware. Our task is to efficiently map a domain specific application onto this heterogeneous hardware. I work on the Customizable Heterogeneous Platform (CHP) modelling and mapping layer of the project. More details are available at the link below. http://www.cdsc.ucla.edu/ The goal of this project is to build a highly scalable super computer which has a wide range of hardware including CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs and other customizable domain specific custom hardware. Designed and implemented a library similar to Thread Building Blocks (TBB) for heterogeneous computing. The high level loop constructs are translated to OpenCL. The novelty of this work is that we support pointers on certain gpu hardware like the Intel IVB class of processors. This work has been open sourced by Intel Corporation. https://github.com/IntelLabs/iHRC Designed and implemented a library similar to Thread Building Blocks (TBB) for heterogeneous computing.
