I worked as an engagement support worker for the non-profit homelessness organisation Salford Loaves and Fishes. My role involved assisting in coordinating and running a variety of training and activity programmes to improve the skills, wellbeing, and knowledge of vulnerable individuals that access the service. Some of the activities involve employment support creating CVs and supporting job aspirations, wellbeing activities to improve the physical and mental health of clients, and learning opportunities such as one to one literacy support.

Criminal Justice Recovery Worker

Aug 2021 - Feb 2022
My responsibilities as a Criminal Justice Trainee recovery worker were vast and in order to fulfil these responsibilities appropriately it was important to understand and follow the policies and procedures set out within Turning point. My role involved managing my own caseload of clients, undertake risk assessments, and develop person-centred recovery plans for individuals currently struggling with substance misuse. Furthermore, this role involved working within a multi-disciplinary team and build relationships with both professionals and families involved with the clients care, therefore collaborative team working skills were essential. This includes regular liaison with the probation service, social services, housing association and GP practices to provide the client individualised care based on their needs and circumstances. Working at Turning point enabled me to develop my coaching skills through holding regular one to one sessions with clients and to identify relevant interventions that reflect the clients needs, rights, and preferences in an environment which is safe and promotes positive well-being. Further identifying and promoting opportunities for clients to engage in the community e.g employment, training, and volunteering. This role has provided me deep knowledge and awareness in regards to confidentiality as all client information is kept confidential under the Data Protections Act 2018 including clients consents to share information with other professionals. I have also completed motivational interviewing training and am able to deliver psychosocial intervention material for substance misuse. Furthermore, the role has provided me training on mental health awareness which includes suicide and self-harm prevention training and managing

Retail Sales Assistant

Oct 2016 - Aug 2021
Over the past five years I have worked within three differential roles: food, clothing, and beauty. • Having the responsibility of ensuring the food meets hygienic standards (e.g. hourly temperature checks) to ensure the safety of customers. • Monitor food sales to ensure popular products are continuously available to promote sales and reduce waste. • Working as a clothing sales assistant I was able to obtain teamwork skills as each colleague worked a different area to make sure that tasks for the day were completed to a high standard. • Answering customer calls allowed me to develop my customer service, communication skills, and improve my overall confidence. There were times in which customer interactions were deemed hostile and confrontational if a customer had problems with our standards and procedures. Therefore I gained the appropriate skills to defuse hostile situations in a calm manner while trying to resolve the presented problem. • The role increased my opportunities of using my incentive. For instance, if we did not have particular item in stock I would offer a similar item to avoid disappointment or I would check on the system if we have it in another store and provide them with the stores phone number as we were not permitted ourselves to ring other stores. • While being a part of a team of five I have been able to develop my skills of working independently as only one colleague works on the department at any given time. This has allowed me to reduce reliance on others and work independently with customers to meet their needs and provide them with the appropriate guidance and advice. • It has also further improved my initiative skills working in a independent environment. For instance, superiors are not always available to provide reassurance and instructions therefore it has enabled me to use my creativity and ideas to improve staff and customer experiences and also critique myself to better improve my approaches and strategies.
