  Notable projects include: • Co-authored a study assessing the feasibility of establishing individually owned bison caretaking operations for community development and eco-cultural revitalization across Indian Country. Reviewed emerging legislation & market developments for US meat processors and producers, conducted bison industry market research, and developed a database of potential funding sources for land conversion and business expansion.• Conducted & analyzed interviews with leaders across the Native agriculture industry & supported focus group facilitation for a national market study to identify needs, barriers, & solutions to support Native food producers.•Wrote a literature review on prescribed burning and tribal cultural burns for the regeneration of eco-cultural resources in California. Assisted with facilitation of a focus group discussion between tribal cultural burners and relevant California state and federal agency representatives.• Conducted interviews with students & representatives from tribal colleges and universities across the US to inform strategic planning for the environmental stewardship department of an Indigenous higher education non-profit. Wrote a literature review, assisted with focus group facilitation, and analyzed qualitative and survey data.• Authored a Client Satisfaction Study for a community development financial institution serving under-resourced communities in Pennsylvania. Conducted interviews & analyzed survey and focus group data. Wrote Standard Operating Procedures for the use of collected data.

  • Co-led research design and collection (methods included community assessment surveys, interviews, and focus groups) and led analysis as author of the report “The State of Food Sovereignty: Stories of Food and Community from the Sicangu Lakota Oyate,” which explored the historical roots, current reality, and future possibilities of the Sicangu Lakota (Rosebud Sioux) food system (2019) • Coordinated two market feasibility studies from inception to completion to assess opportunities for growing a local foods economy via a mobile grocery store and food distribution hub (2020 - 2021) • Grant reviewer for America's Healthy Food Financing Initiative, a United States Department of Agriculture Targeted Small Grants Program (2020) • Helped secure $200,000 in unrestricted grant funds as a grant writer of the “7Gen Food System,” a 25-year plan to re-establish food sovereignty for the Sicangu Lakota Oyate (Rockefeller Foundation Food System Vision Prize Top Ten Visionary, 2020) • Co-developed, launched, and managed a community seed distribution network, sharing over 11,000 free seed packets with community members and organizations (2020 - 2021) • Managed over $500,000 in grant funding via Excel & Sage Intacct financial management software, handled financial reporting to federal agencies and other grantors, developed financial tracking databases & operational budgets (2019 - 2020) • Designed curriculum for a gardening internship and managed a volunteer team of project leaders (2021) • Led media outreach: developed, produced, and edited “Food Revolution” podcast and radio show (2020 - 2021), launched "Seeding Sovereignty" newsletter & blog (2020)
