I investigated the analysis of urine glycans on a nano-LC QTOF mass spectrometer. This may lead to improved diagnosis of disorders characterized by tetrasaccharide excretion in urine.

PhD student
-
2006 - Mar 2011
I developed a diagnostic tool, using mass spectrometry, for the elucidation of glycosylation disorders, by means of setup and optimalization of MALDI/MS, LC-QTOF and UPLC instrumentation. The diagnosis was focused on new biomarkers in blood and urine, and clinical presentation of the patient. This lead to 12 publications, 6 of which as first author and the PhD thesis "Biochemical and clinical investigations in the diagnosis of congenital disorders of glycosylation". During my PhD course, I trained and chaperoned 7 undergraduate students and participated in several international meetings about glycan analysis. Show less
