Bio
Dawn B. Crim
While serving as Secretary of the Department of Safety and Professional Services, I also volunteered to serve as chair of the Governor's Advisory Council on Equity and Inclusion. Mai was an active member of the Council's community engagement sub-committee possessing genuine leadership qualities. She was a perfect example of leading "from where you are". I took notice and encouraged her to serve as chair of the sub-committee in her second year. I am glad she did! As the leader, her strong advocacy skills shone through in that she advocated for more visible community events throughout the State of Wisconsin that celebrated and demonstrated impacts of communities of color. And on her own campus, she advocated for and brought The Smithsonian Institute touring exhibition "The Bias Inside Us" to UW-Greenbay, the only higher education institution in the State of Wisconsin to host the exhibition. She is a forward thinking leader.

I have had the pleasure of having Mai as my advisor/mentor throughout my undergraduate journey at UW Greenbay. From the moment I stepped foot on campus up to my graduation and beyond, Mai has helped guide me. Mai truly embodies what it means to be a leader and knows how to encourage others to be leaders in their own right. She encouraged me to take risks, exposed me to different opportunities on campus, and helped me network within the greater community. I wouldn’t be the leader I am today if not for an advisor like Mai who helped me grow! Her passion for helping others become the best version of themselves continues to inspire many.
