My responsibilities include: • Liaison with volunteers, project staff and local Partner Organizations to plan and coordinate volunteer activities. • Collaborating with volunteers to ensure that tools and materials they develop are cataloged andshared with staff and partners. • Promoting the application of volunteer guidelines and the utilization of volunteer engagement tools and processes. • Assisting with volunteer pre-departure preparations, arrival logistics, orientations and settlement and facilitating an in-country peer-support network for volunteers. During the Summer of 2018 I was awarded a scholarship through the YMCA to take part in “Students on Ice”, a charitable organization that offers educational expeditions to the Polar Regions. I had the great privilege of visiting the High Arctic (Canada and Greenland) with a group of other students, activists, educators, scientists and government representatives.
