I have had the privilege of being a Mentor and Tutor to First year law students at UKZN during my final year as part of my public law year module: Teaching Legal Skills. Teaching has given me immense pleasure especially when my students feel comfortable enough to debate material and engage in discussions. Being a Tutor has also helped me learn to work under pressure as I was expected to write tests for my normal subjects and immediately thereafter teach a class. It taught me to stay consistent with my lesson plans and learn to balance teaching with my studies especially when I had to consult with my students individually and mark their written work submissions that was handed in every week.
