Name of Project: Modern Food Storage Facilities (MFSP) Location: Mymensingh, Bangladesh Client: Directorate General of Food, Ministry of Food, Bangladesh. Modern Food Storage Facilities Project (MFSP) is financed by World Bank Group for construction of Silo Complex to increase grain reserve to meet post-disaster needs and improve the efficiency of grain storage management. The capacity of Mymensingh steel silo is 48000 MT which includes 15 bins. Each bin’s capacity is 3000 MT. The main tasks assigned are given bellow. • Interpreting the drawings, specifications and conditions of contract, etc. to the contractor. • Supervising the construction at site to ensure quality of workmanship & material. • Co-ordinating with client and contractor to prevent any conflict or delay of work time schedule. • Evaluating all tests on soil and material conducted by engineers and approve/ disapprove their works as per checklist. • Ensuring masonry work (10-hole machine made pointing brick work), roof tile work, floor tile work, electrical and plumbing work as per design and check list. • Recording authorized deviation from contract drawings. • Checking all the measurements according to working drawing for IPC (Interim Payment Certificates) and forward to client for payment. • Demonstrating RFI (Request for inspection), internal & external lab test report of materials, cylinder test report of concrete, cross hole sonic logging and static load test report of pile from contractor and give to client (MFSP) for payment. • Examining shop drawing with assembly drawing for Steel Structure erection and solve issues as per site circumstance. • Maintaining GRM (Grievance Redress Mechanism) record as a secretary and ensuring all the rules of GRM. • Identifying potential conflicts and provide solutions to keep the project on scheduled time. • Maintain all the safety protocols on site for risk free construction environment. The World Bank is providing IDA financing for the implementation of the MFSP, as approved by its Board of Directors on December 30, 2013. The project development objective of MFSP is to increase the grain reserve available to households to meet their post-disaster needs and improve the efficiency of grain storage management. Gerico France is the International Design and Supervision Consultant to cover the following four main areas of expertise: • Auto Cad drafting and detailed design. • Assisting in preparing RCC & steel building design. • Assisting in load calculation of structures. • Assisting in preparing mechanical spouting drawing. • Assisting in preparing indoor lighting and automation drawing. • Supervising pre-survey for Silo and related ancillary structure also supervising SPT test, topography survey and bathymetric survey according to Silo site general layout at site. • Examining architectural, structural drawings and specifications to estimate BOQ. • Preparing BOQ of ancillary buildings according to PWD rate schedule. • Preparing civil inspection checklist for supervision. • Write down report according to site visit. • Assuring quality.
