Her arbejder jeg med udviklingen af nye værktøjer, der sikre bedre monitorering og regulering af landbruget – til gavn for både klima, natur og erhverv. Specifikt arbejder jeg med nye kortgrundlag og GIS-analyser, som skal understøtte mere bedriftsspecifikke beregninger af landbrugets klima -og miljøpåvirkning // I work in Team Satellite & GIS under the division Agricultural Support & Geodata. Here I work with the development of new tools that ensure better monitoring and regulation of danish agriculture – to the benefit of both the climate, nature, and farmers. My job is focused on the (meta)-data analysis on specific agricultural practices and technologies. Using the large database from the project "Evidence for Resilient Agriculture" (https://era.ccafs.cgiar.org), we aim to identify key agricultural practices and technologies that contribute to system resilience, economic sustainability and climate change mitigation, in an African context. By performing this systems analysis we hope to facilitate better decision-making for investment, development, advisory and policy-related stakeholders. Show less

The aim of this Academic Consultancy Training project was to conduct an investigation of sustainability challenges in agriculture and identify potential solutions for Dutch farmers. The main findings of this project can be summarised as: (1) Complex, coinciding and interconnected challenges exist for the Dutch arable farming sector; (2) Using the social (People), environmental (Planet) and economic (Profit) perspective allows for a much needed comprehensive understanding of these challenges – based on the view of the general society and the farmers; (3) A number of promising and highly potential win-win solutions can be identified within the sector; (4) (i) Diminishing profit margins, (ii) governmental regulatory uncertainties and (iii) future whether and climate issues, were identified as some of the most pressing challenges for Dutch arable farmers; (5) Strong, integrated and long-term economic and advisory support is needed if the Dutch arable farming sector is to achieve European and national sustainability targets; (6) Precision Farming is rather seen as a means to reach the goal of a more efficient and sustainable farming system, however many alternative farm management innovations are also promising; (7) Targeting on-farm Water Management remains the primary high-potential win-win approach to achieve greater and more stable yields, while also reducing the environmental footprint of the Dutch arable farming sector; (8) A number of implementation-ready water management innovations from other sectors and different parts of the world is relevant to the Dutch arable farming sector; (9) Farmers’ investments in on-farm Water Management infrastructure can be significantly promoted and facilitated through public support programs and enabling policies; (10) Public support programs to promote farmers’ sustainable and cost-effective technology adoption has a higher potential for success, if promoted through already curious farmers and farm cooperatives.
