I work in the Education Department under the Curator of Education and the Education Assistant. I help run field trips and tours at both the museum and the affiliated Mary Olsen Farm. Our curriculums are targeted to elementary aged students, however we have made adjustments in order to make the content more appropriate and enjoyable for guests or different ages. The curriculums focus on Washington State Indigenous cultures, Auburn history, farming practice and daily life 100 years ago and westward expansion via pioneers. I have a strong background in local Washington State History. Besides being an educator, I also assist with staffing museum events, such as free family days. Show less

    • Native American Collections Intern
      • Nov 2022 - Jun 2023

In November, I began to inventory and digitize artifacts with Native American origins in the Skagit County Historical Museum collection. At the end of my internship I will have completed the following tasks: 1. Developed a comprehensive written inventory of our Native American artifacts; 2. Created a written list of artifacts which do not meet the SCHM collection criteria and my recommendation on whether the item should be deaccessioned or repatriated; 3. Re-designed and re-labeled the Native American permanent exhibit cases. I have since inventoried over 800 items already in this collection, as well as assisted the Curation Manager in accessioning and cataloging over 50 more items into the PastPerfect museum software. I am designing an exhibit that focuses on the history and culture of local indigenous populations, specifically those in Skagit County, and working collaboratively with members of those communities. Proficient in PastPerfect museum software and Microsoft Excel. Show less

This seasonal internship was in the Bellevue Arts Museum Education Department. I was tasked with planning and running the museum’s Free Family Day in October. Working under the Education Manager I was responsible for planning and preparing arts, crafts, and activities for young children and families. I designed instructions as well as promotional materials for the event. I staffed the Free Family Day, helping to set up the museum space, manage volunteers, and prepare extra materials as needed. I worked extensively with Office Suite to communicate tasks, designs, and logistics with my coworkers. Show less
