Magdalena is phenomenally professional, industrious, and intelligent. Utterly dependable, nothing with which she is connected ever fails to exceed expectations. Her knowledge of China is both encyclopaedic and current, and I never fail to be impressed by her dedication and commitment to both her studies and the interests of the team.

Tollak Bowitz

As a fellow student at London School of Economics, I can only offer the highest recommendation to Magdalena Markiewicz. By successfully organising a range of events as coordinator of the UN Students Society, I can testify to her great understanding of international politics and human rights, with particular analytical insight into Chinese and EU-affairs. Based on her knowledge and positive attitude, as well as her determination to deliver results, I am confident that she will exceed all expectations and be a valuable asset to any employer.

    • Events Coordinator at the LSE United Nations Society
      • Oct 2016 - Apr 2017

During the period of my postgraduate studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science, I was nominated for the role of the Events Coordinator at the LSE United Nations Students Society. As the Events Coordinator, I was in charge of organizing diverse types of events and lectures within my university, which related to the topics that the United Nations concerns itself about, such as international political affairs, crises, human rights violations, women's rights, poverty, human trafficking etc. My role at the United Nations society has enabled me to oversee the organisation of these events throughout all the stages of their preparation - I was given a wide autonomy to decide what type event I wanted to organize (panel discussion, documentary screening, meeting, conference), whom to invite and what the topic of the event would be. I was responsible for inviting the guests, booking the venue, ensuring the licensing rights of documentaries, and hosting/moderating the discussions. Among the most successful events I was able to oversee was the screening of the Aljazeera documentary on the plight of the Rohingya minority in Myanmar, the talk with two journalists who have traveled undercover to Bahrain to shoot a documentary on the issue of statelessness and citizenship revocation in the country and the conference on the human rights abuses of the Yazidi women in Iraq.

    • Spokesperson
      • Feb 2014 - Jul 2014

During the time of my undergraduate studies, I was nominated for the position of the Spokesperson at the International Students Club in my home university (Collegium Civitas). As the spokesperson, I was responsible for maintaining the regular dialogue between the school's management and the international and exchange students taking enrolled at the university. As the international students did not speak Polish, among my responsibilities was also helping the newcomers with translating official documents needed to register in Poland or to obtain a visa. Moreover, the role of a spokesperson enabled me to be the face of the international students in Collegium Civitas and to speak on their behalf in the cases when they felt their needs were not addresses by the lecturers or the directors of the institution.

    • English Specialist
      • Apr 2009 - Aug 2013

I was hired at Etonkids Educational Group as a Montessori Expert. Gradually, I took on additional responsibilities, that of a curricula manager and communications supervisor. In my capacity of the curricula manager, I was responsible for the program management for the age groups of international students of different ages and diverse cultural backgrounds. I was also responsible for language classes (English, French, Chinese) and for the supervision of the accurate implementation of the curricula I created by the teachers working at my campus. As the communications manager, I was in charge of maintaining relations and a regular dialogue between the Chinese directors of the Etonkids Group and the international parents. I was also present during their meetings in case translation from and to Chinese was necessary, which was often the case.
