I was recruited to this rapidly growing travel startup to build out the content production and localisation department. The website was produced at the start in 3 languages and ended up in 25, which required managing a team of 9 in-house writer-translators and a network of 40 freelancers. My responsibilities necesarilly encompassed developing and meeting delivery schedules, managing the budget for the network of freelancers, maintaining quality control of the entire website content taking into account questions of house style, readability, and SEO. The range of content produced included hotel descriptions, custom landing pages, newsletters, the hotelier's extranet tool, and social media and blog posts. Because of the wide range of needs the content being produced had to satisfy, I worked very closely with other departments such as marketing, technology, hotel support, and customer service.
