Analyzed electrocardiograms of USA Heart Center patients performed in January 2015 to March 2015 for nonspecific T wave abnormalities. Reviewed patient charts for demographic data, risk factors, and reports of patient stress tests, echocardiograms, and cardiac catheterizations. Stratified data into subgroups based on age, gender, and race to determine the association of these ECG findings and evidence of ischemic heart disease. Oral presentation on our findings at the 2016 USACOM Medical Student Research Day. Abstract has been submitted for a poster presentation at the 2016 AMA Research Symposium in November 2016 in Orlando, FL. Show less

I assist emergency department physicians in electronic charting. I increase the physician's efficacy by undertaking clerical duties such as documenting patient encounters, physical exams as dictated by the physician, interpretations of imaging studies, and notifying physicians of lab results. • Student Research Assistant
      • May 2013 - Jul 2013

I worked as a student research assistant under the guidance of Dr. Alexandra C. Stenson. Our research focused upon the quantitative analysis of biogenic sulfur in freshwater and saltwater, such as DMSP and DMS. I made calibration standards of the analytes and then analyzed them with LCMS. I also wrote sections of the manuscript, which will later be submitted for publication.

    • Contributing Writer for USA The Vanguard Student Newspaper
      • Aug 2012 - May 2013

I published 8 articles for the University of South Alabama's student newspaper, The Vanguard. My articles focused on reviews of restaurants in the Mobile, AL area. The reviews were accompanied by photos I took.

As a student research assistant, I worked under the guidance of Dr. W. Matthew Reichert on the study of ionic liquids and their potential use as a depolymerization catalyst for the production of feedstock chemicals. The two skills I strongly developed as a research assistant are independence and technical writing. The experiments and data performed or collected were the basis of my undergraduate honors thesis. I presented posters on my research at the 2012 UCUR Symposium and the 245th American Chemical Society National Meeting in New Orleans, LA. This research has been published by our lab group twice thus far. Show less

    • Math/Science Tutor
      • Mar 2011 - May 2012

The purpose of my job as a tutor was to guide student athletes towards success in their classes, particularly math and science. I went over lessons with the students and also helped them to figure out difficult homework questions. I organized individual appointments with the athletes along with study groups. Many of the students I habitually met with were able to pass their classes.
