I obtained entry-level occupational therapy skills through learning and working at a skilled nursing facility for 12 weeks. During this experience I worked primarily with older adults with physical disabilities. I further developed my abilities to complete evaluations, plan evidence-based and occupation-based interventions, write quality documentation, build rapport with patients and caregivers, and collaborate with other professions. I created 10 occupation-based activities with video tutorials for children grades K-12 to work on communication skills while away from school during the COVID-19 pandemic. I worked with adults with developmental and physical disabilities living in a group home to improve quality of life and engagement in occupations. I assisted with engagement in ADL's and IADL's such as self-care, feeding, leisure, meal preparation, home management, health management and maintenance, community mobility, and social participation. This experience gave me exposure to medical diagnoses, medication administration, assistive technology and devices, and transfer techniques. In this role I also learned to write quality documentation using Therap and Quick MAR.

I shadowed at the YALT program and worked in a group to create a six session program for the YALT students to further develop social skills. My group implemented one session with the students at the University at Buffalo and provided YALT with the full six session program with the necessary instructions and materials.
