In this ten-week program, participants learn resilience and coping mechanisms through connecting to their environment and each other. The Veterans Sea Kayak Resilience Training (V-SKRT) is offered to veterans in the Charleston area twice a year. Over the course of this program, participants take part in six full-day expeditions into saltwater and blackwater ecosystems to learn how to sea kayak. Taking the principles of sea kayaking and applying them to interpersonal development skills, this program focuses on PTSD recovery and learning how to help- and be helped- on the water and in life.

      • Feb 2021 - Present

Charleston, South Carolina, United States "Since 1992, Coastal Expeditions has been on a mission to put people safely and securely in the path of beauty to experience meaningful things. As guides and storytellers, they delight in sharing all that they know about the Lowcountry – its lands and waters, its plants and animals and people, and its history and culture – with everyone we meet. Because to know the earth is to love it. And to love it is to help care for it forever. "
