I met Madelynn at a Pepperdine University, Ventura County Alumni Waves event last year. She announced that the VC board needed active members. I was immediately drawn to the idea and knew I could partner with such a leader as Maddie. I wanted to partner with Pepperdine to promote alumni events and foster outreach to the community. I also knew I wanted to be on her team. She is puts 100% into every alumni event and board meeting. As a board member, I am well informed about events and meetings in a timely manner. Maddie is a good listener and definitely makes me feel included and respected when I give input. She always has a smile on her face and is one of the most welcoming individuals I have meet in a long time. I am privileged to partner with Maddie and the Ventura County Alumni Waves!

    • Campaign Development Manager, Light the Night
      • 2019 - 2021

Light The Night is the signature annual fundraising campaign of national cancer research nonprofit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I was one of three campaign managers in the Wisconsin/Midwest territory, where I led event production for the 500-person Light the Night walk and lantern lighting event honoring cancer victims and survivors in Appleton, WI, and I collaborated with my team and board of directors to craft an overarching campaign strategy to raise $1M in the region. In this role, I cultivated relationships with major corporate donors like ThedaCare, Denmark State Bank, Generac, and the Green Bay Packers to solicit donations and recruit “walk leaders” to start fundraising teams within their companies. COVID presented an additional challenge during my time there, as we had to switch from an events-based to virtual programming strategy, and I was able to adapt my process to successfully secure corporate sponsorships remotely and reimagine our initiatives to raise $200K.

Fond du Lac Festivals is a nonprofit organization that puts on an annual 3-day music and family festival called Walleye Weekend in Wisconsin. As Event Manager, I led all aspects of production of the 2019 festival, a $200K+ event for 65K attendees. The festival’s mission is to support local nonprofits, and about 15 organizations participated and had concession booths on site. On the logistics side, I was responsible for managing vendors, booking entertainment (including musical artists for four stages), and serving as the main point of contact during the festival. In addition, I secured 50+ corporate sponsors, including Mercury Marine, CD Smith Construction, Waste Management, and Grande Cheese.

Finery, Inc. is an event production company founded by my family over 15 years ago. Much of our business is in wedding planning, but we also manage private parties and corporate galas of up to 500 attendees. I communicate closely with clients to understand their vision for events and then manage the budget, production schedule, vendor relations, and all other logistics. As a campaign consultant for the free clinic, I was primarily working on the capital campaign for a new building, and I cultivated relationships with corporate donors like Amgen, Simi Valley Hospital, and Kaiser Permanente to raise money for the initiative, hosting small donor relations events every month.
