      • Sep 2007 - May 2009

My job was to identify and label fossils to be put in the paleontology collection. Fossils included everything from modern to ancient invertebrates, mostly marine. I also did work in the Bahamas (San Salvador and Cat Island) while at Smith. In San Salvador, we looked various carbonate environments, identified coral, seagrass, and algal species, and collected data on the grazing rates of herbivorous fish. On Cat Island, we collected data on ancient carbonate reef environments, sedimentary structures and their formation, and nearshore sedimentary evolution. Show less

This is an educational marine science summer camp for school children on Ambergris Caye, Belize. I taught marine science to grade school and middle school students in San Pedro, Belize. Participated in fish grazing study, collecting underwater field data on grazing rates of herbivorous fish. I also worked there in the summer of 2009. That year I was the Science Coordinator for the program.
