Madeline is a hard-working self-starter, who responsibly led a team of students whilst maintaining her numerous other commitments across semester. She was selected to her position as a peer mentor after a competitive recruitment process. She was responsible for leading a diverse group of first year students in the First STEP mentoring program. The program runs across five months during which she was required to independently monitor her mentees, communicate with them weekly and plan and execute group gatherings. She also liaised with a busy Academic to schedule individual meetings between the Academic and each of her mentees across the semester. Peer mentors are given a lot of freedom to adjust the structure of the program according to the needs of their mentees and Academic and Madeline dealt with this responsibility well. She also exceeded expectations in assisting with the program administration including volunteering at Enrolment Day to promote First STEP to incoming students. I have no hesitation in recommending her as a leader, and as an involved, capable member of a team.
