  After having lived in Korea for six years, working with Korean students learning English, and non-Korean residents in Korea learning Korean, in education settings, and helping non-Korean residents while making hospital visits, I’m now working as a Patient Services Representative at Kheir Clinic. This is the perfect opportunity for me to observe the differences in health care and hospital culture between the US and Korea, as well as how immigrants and various subcultures accommodate to the hospital experience. While honing my medical terminology in Korean, I am serving the low-income and under-insured, largely migrant and marginalized populations of Los Angeles County, all while working alongside Spanish-speaking staff, giving me the chance to also boost my skills in that area. I’ve become proficient at managing multiple providers’ schedules through eClinicalWorks, as well as working with different types of insurance services to determine patients’ eligibility and coverage.
