      The University of South Africa (UNISA) is the biggest university in Africa. It is an open distance education institution, thus students can enroll from any location. UNISA has a wide variety of academic programmes and received international accreditation. Responsibility was primarily to manage and administrate teaching processes of three third year auditing modules over my nine year employment term. The third year modules covered aspects concerning: Aspects of internal control of importance to an auditor, Audit planning and tests of control, Substantive procedures and finalising an audit. Responsibilities of these auditing modules included the developing and writing, review and updating of study material in line with the International Standards of Auditing, drafting of tutorial letters, setting assignment questions, planning and preparation of examination papers, attending to external moderator’s reports on exam papers and scripts, and the marking of online assignments and examination papers. Student support responsibilities included one-on-one student consultations, conducting group visits, and the release of announcements and quality feedback through the use of appropriate and effective technologies. UNISA utilises an in-house developed software programme (myUnisa), where students have online access to course material, due dates and announcements. Operational responsibilities included the daily management of the auditing module’s queries mailbox, the administration of the exam process through the arrangement of external markers, training of external markers through a test pack discussion, quality control on a sample of exam scripts marked by external markers, as well as the monitoring of the marking turnaround time of exam paper batches to ensure adherence to the submission deadline.
