I visited Northglade Montessori Magnet School to encourage girls to seek an education and career in the sciences. The visits, coordinated through Kalamazoo Communities in Schools, involve hands-on lessons, experiments and field trips that nurture interest in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and math). This allows SIS members like myself to serve as role models, and local youths to grow their dreams of future achievements. I helped patients schedule appointments and make cancellations. I also helped complete the transactions for the patient's visits and dealt with insurance companies. I placed orders for patients' contact lenses, glasses, and frames, took inventory, and cleaned all of the vision accessories we had in the office. I was responsible for cleaning the exam room before and after each patient and helping record vision prescriptions for each patient's exam. I also helped with updating and filing patients' records in both an online and physical database. Show less
