I commenced with Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst) as an articled clerk, rotating through the Finance, Intellectual Property, Competition and Information Technology practice groups. I qualified as a Solicitor in 1996 and was promoted to Senior Associate in 1999. For two years from 1998-1999 I worked predominantly on one major matter, acting for Boral Ltd in a ground breaking court case in relation to alleged predatory pricing in the concrete masonry products industry. As a key member of the defence team, I undertook extensive industry analysis and customer interviews, prepared complex defence documentation and managed thousands of documents and several databases. Interaction with senior management at Boral, as well as customers and other industry participants was a key component of the role.
