  Flint Newbury was a family friend who suffered from a tragic accident in the summer of 2012. He broke his neck and became paralyzed, in order to help pay for medical expenses. My family and with the help of some friends we put on a benefit to raise money for him. Sadly Flint passed away in 2019 on Good Friday. Flint was always an outdoorsman and he valued the experiences he had growing up. In turn, we turned Friends of Flint Inc. into a scholarship program for FFA and 4H. It’s a two-day event that includes a cook-off, shooting tournament, washer tournament, live auction, and silent auction. As a board member I handle the PR work, I receive everyone who comes through the gates, I create the spreadsheets for the events and helping my father stay relaxed. It’s a stressful two-day event but the work takes a year to put in place. The time, effort, and passion that goes into this event can be seen by the way our organization is run. I have worked with Flint when he was alive in assisting in his day to day activities. I am a go-getter and can work under pressure. I also have knowledge of working with disabilities for 5 years. This is not my job but a career in which I will never get paid for. However, I wouldn’t want to because this is more than that, it is a way to give back and to have a place to express the love for the outdoors. Show less
