Bio
Taylor Kim
Mac was one of our guest instructors for my cohort. Almost immediately I noticed how detailed and caring he is. I've only heard a couple of his lectures and he lead my cohort's first hackathon, but in those short encounters he was always checking up on us and took the time to make sure that none of us were lost. I especially valued how he gave us feedback on our work. I'd never heard anyone outside of my project team say how much they personally appreciated the details that I put into my work. From this, I knew that Mac saw each project as his own baby and that his genuine priority in UX design is making a difference. Mac stands out above others because you know you can trust his purpose and you will rarely find someone who take the time to make deep connections/take responsibility for the people they've just met.
Adam Valentine
Mac is an exceptional talent. He is responsible for assembling the underlying web app UX architecture of BASE10's core business. Mac managed our UI team so our final product was ahead of schedule without sacrificing functionality. His skillset and discipline allows him to quickly adjust to fluctuating business priorities, such as time, budget, and scope. The "ground floor" of a business/start-up forces the company to find the right people to not only execute their main function, but also help drive the company in several other areas is imperative. A ground floor start-up asks (and most times) forces you out of your comfort zone, sometimes on an hourly basis, Mac applies his UX skillset and process to other facets of BASE10. For example, he is the owner and creator of our internship program by pairing our growing company with a pipeline of candidates. I can go on and on about Mac's skillset, but what really matters when you're spending 10+ hour days 3 feet away from each other is this answering the "foxhole" question. When times get tough can I rely on this person to make the right decisions while being an excellent person to work with? Mac is that person.
