      • May 2022 - Present

I re-joined GLI Solutions as an intern after my German Erasmus semester.• Map Maintenance: My task is to correct the company's Navigation Map of Hungary, by creating new network and COS features. During the editing I need to be accurate and profound. I am using QGIS, and I do feel that my daily GIS skills are improving.• Railways Upgrade: I had to find those railways elements which were missing from the company’s database. For getting results, I used QGIS Model Builder to compare the current railways layer with the downloaded OSM railways features. I built a complete model which gave me the result vector layer with the missing railways objects.

      • I am a student member of the Landscape Ecology Research Group (Department of Geoinformatics, Physical and Environmental Geography).o My main research topic is Landscape Ecology, more precisely the connection between invasive plants and land cover change. I use GIS tools (QGIS, web-maps) and statistical methods to get the analysis and summary part done. Data visualisation is also inevitable because it gives an easier interpretation of given results.o I am helping the research group with basic GIS computations and result evaluation used in scientific publications. Identifying the factors why invasive plants occur in locations with different land covers and what are their potential damages, could help environmental experts defend against this phenomenon.

      • Map Maintenance: I became member of the Map Maintenance Team, and my task was to correct the company's Navigation Map of Hungary.o I modified ‘Network’ line and ‘Address’ point attributes to perfectly fit the Google Satellite basemap. By fixing these features, the map dataset came to be more functional for later uses.o The Map Maintenance Team worked on Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Somogy County during these few months and we managed to repair most of the wrong entities.o I think I’ve learned a lot of things by working in such a professional company. I felt that I was a valued member of their team, despite being an intern. I really liked using QGIS in a daily basis, honestly the task felt like I am playing with an addictive video game.

      • Spatial Analysis of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations: The main assignment was to collect all EV charging stations based in Hungary. The task was to include these important features in an already existing POI database.o My first sub-task was to create a guideline titled: How to find the newest EV charging points in Hungary? – This step-by-step tutorial included all necessary phases regarding searching methods and important settings.o The company had Excel tables containing EV charging station POIs from two different sources. I had to join these and make sure that there were no duplicate values. Using geoprocessing tools (creating buffer zones, joining two attributes) I succeeded to make the complete database.o I had to update the dataset with newly added EC charging stations (regarding the last few months) using the previously made guideline.• QGIS Course Teaching Assistant: GeoX organised an Open-Source GIS course for GIS Specialists of the National Directorate General for Disaster Management to make the change-over from ArcMap to QGIS successful. This event included a general introduction and basic applications of QGIS. I was the teaching assistant, and my task was to help those who needed it. • Project Management: My task was to find and test a suitable software which manages project assignments in an advanced way. I created a flow diagram to include all needed criteria and to get a better visualisation of the process. During this task I discovered and tested several possible applications and chose the most fitting one.
