I have written multiple articles for the Cardiff University student magazine, Quench. This has given me experience in journalism and writing creatively for an audience, as well as researching articles and handling tight deadlines with time management being key.

Working as a waitress and kitchen hand at the weekend and holidays. This has developed my customer service skills and helped me learn how to function well as part of a team. My duties involve taking and serving food orders, ensuring tables are kept clean and presentable, helping with food preparation, using the coffee machine and general tidying/washing up.

I worked here on a Sunday. My duties involved some front of house work showing customers to a suitable table and helping with any enquiries they had. Taking out food orders, clearing the tables and help with food preparation. This was a busy working environment and I was required to work at a fast pace and to deliver excellent service ensuring that customers left happy.

For a week I worked in the laboratories at the Living Systems Institute at Exeter University. This allowed me to experience what it is like working in an academic research lab and enabled me to help perform some experiments and analytical techniques that I would have otherwise been unable to do. This included PCR, gel electrophoresis, working with DNA, using microscopes and preparing sequences for coding. As well as being a week of learning, it also showed me how to work well with time pressures and deadlines.
