Stavely Minerals is a minerals exploration company with exploration licences covering 1,461 square kilometres in Victoria’s southwest. As Stakeholder Relations Manager, I successfully negotiated more than 50 land access agreements for minerals exploration drilling with agricultural landholders, kept the various communities informed, held landholder and community information sessions, liaised with local government, produced factsheets, corporate videos and other collateral, as well as managed landholder, community contact and the GIS databases. During the COVID-19 restrictions on public meetings, I introduced a quarterly community newsletter to overcome the restrictions on community meetings and keep stakeholders and the wider community informed. • Community Engagement officer for the Golden Plains Wind Farm
      • Mar 2020 - Nov 2020

Once construction is complete. Golden Plains Wind Farm will be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. The $1.7 billion project will produce enough green energy for half a million homes. At WestWind Energy, we recognise Earth Day year-round by building renewable energy wind farms that provide electricity to our homes, our workplaces and industry without the need to mine and burn fossil fuels. Wind power is a clean and sustainable source of energy that is generating much more than electricity. It is generating jobs, incomes, and opportunities for many rural communities. Wind energy and agriculture are perfect partners. A typical wind farm leaves around 98 percent of the land free for crop cultivation or grazing livestock, while land lease payments provide a reliable source of additional income. This can be a crucial buffer against variable crop prices and the vagaries of the weather, especially drought. Show less

Effectively managing community and stakeholder understanding of minerals exploration, land access and regulatory safeguards for the North Central Victorian Goldfields Ground release and the Stavely Arc Ground Release. Helping to build landholder and stakeholder confidence in minerals exploration, in line with Victoria's Minerals Strategy.Establishes effective relationships with a range of stakeholders in the community, including: private landholders, agricultural networks and Landcare groups; local government, catchment and water management authorities and other relevant Government agencies. What my manager said in a recent, unsolicited, nomination for a community engagement award:Every day Lyall brings to work a committed approach to help his stakeholders and communities understand the Governments approach to minerals exploration. His philosophy is that on-going engagement with stakeholders is critical to the success of any project because people deserve to be kept informed, be provided opportunities to improve their understanding and voice their concerns as well as de-risking projects by reducing the potential for misinformation to develop. He loves to have a yarn with any unsuspecting stakeholder and actively seeks out groups and individuals to engage. He is a key asset in tackling MDV’s engagement challenge and provides pertinent and timely advice on engagement tactics, communications and collateral. Show less

I was contracted to manage the community engagement and communications for the Melbourne Water Brighton Main Sewer rehabilitation project - which impacted on residents and other users along 4.5 kilometres of Brighton's iconic Beach Road and the Bay Trail. I provided a high standard of communications and community engagement with stakeholders in the affluent Melbourne coastal suburb. This ensured the smooth roll out of project, despite 24 hour works and multiple traffic lane closures along Beach Road - a major road for commuters, tourists and cyclists. The successful communications and community engagement program, which resulted in a high level of support for the project by residents and business owners, was recognised by the John Holland Group, Melbourne Water and the Bayside City Council. Melbourne Water’s post project community engagement survey returned a Brighton Customer Satisfaction result of an exceptional 4.3 out of 5. It was particularly pleasing to have the Brighton Main Sewer Upgrade project announced as a finalist in the prestigious John Holland annual awards in the Community category. Show less
