Lulu's level of committment and involvement in numerous community projects has always impressed me. Her friendly approach and open attitude makes it easy to work with her, and she gets the job done. And most importantly in the activist community...she is always THERE!

Lulu was the Ladies First Coordinator for an all women's hip hop monthly in Seattle. She was a great manager, promoter, coordinator and host. I would always accept a booking from Lulu and Ladies First.

I teach performance and media arts to 5th to 8th graders and advise 8th graders specifically. In recent years, I have become the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practitioner at our school to create an Equity and Diversity Team that we will be implementing next year and lead Community Meeting for the whole school. I am the lead in my department of 1! I created the scope and sequence for our performing arts and media arts curriculum to infuse these arts into the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Media (STEAM) curricular aspects utilizing project-based learning and subject collaboration. I lead grade level culmination collaborations including 5th Grade Comic-Con, 6th Grade Science Fiction mask and storytelling unit, 7th Grade Audio Engineering, and 8th Grade Filmmaking Intensive & Final Production Culmination. As an 8th Grade Advisor, I support our Next Schools High School Program, Social & Emotional Learning, Academic Skill Building, Race & Social Justice, and 8th Grade Graduation. Show less

I have always worked for Hidmo Eritrean Restaurant, as a volunteer since its founding and then as a community partner through Communities Against Rape and Abuse (CARA). Recently, it has branched out into four distinct programs; Hidmo Media Projects, Hidmo Community Empowerment Project; Hidmo Entertainment; and Hidmo Restaurant & Catering. I support all programs, but focus on the infrastructure, community partnerships, steering committee, and volunteer coordination. I am supporting the development of this organization, so that it can expand its capacity, stabilize their programs, and provide an evaluative process to make the organization sustainable while keeping its grassroots and community center.
