  Principal duties include:-Collation, consolidating and analysing data received from a number of sources, for use in the determination of the sugarcane price.-Consolidation of 19 industry reports containing all the key industry variables, such as Sugar production, local market demand and supply, etc. into a monthly report for use by members throughout the sugar industry in South Africa.-Processing of sales figures on a monthly basis. Compiling these into reports for use in the determination of the pricing of cane.-Tracking and monitoring the international sugar prices, implementing tariff recommendations on the import of sugar into SA.-Consolidation of import statistics. Analysing the trends, regions globally and sectors the importers are targeting, and projecting the impact on local market sales.-Daily monitoring of the export market, this includes retrieving data from Reuters, amoung other international financial news sources for the sugar cane millers so as to hedge their prices accordingly.-Quarterly redistribution. This process is to ensure fairness between the millers and to ensure adherence to the SA Sugar Industry Agreement. This is done by analysing the sales of each miller relative to their production share within the industry. On a quarterly basis, those millers who have oversold are to pay into the redistribution fund, while those who have undersold are to receive from the fund.-Variance reports. These are done based on sales, imports, exports and production of sugarcane on a quarterly basis.-I work closely with external service providers in the IT field in order to implement new statistical processes, which speeds up the processing of collected and collated data. My Project Management course has assisted significantly in establishing new ways of manipulating data and the computerization thereof. This is one of the new processes that I have implemented in the company.
