Colin Schimmelfing
Joseph is a great engineer who would be solid on any engineering team - I would love to work with him again in the future. He is passionate about making systems better, including by pioneering and evangelizing some of our testing frameworks, and can work in diverse parts of the stack. He adeptly balances the tradeoffs between focusing on rapid short-term delivery to solve customer needs with the responsibility of developing a codebase that can scale and anticipate future needs. In particular, his ability to collaborate with our internal customers was a strength I appreciated - his collaboration skills led to more impactful and valuable technical solutions. It was such a pleasure to work with Joseph on some very substantial launches at Station A including but not limited to the best clean energy portfolio product in the market today. He has such a great attention to detail, not just on what is built from a software side but how it is built and maintained, making sure that he is a good ancestor for anyone who touches the code that he writes. He communicates clearly, asks thoughtful questions and is not afraid to tackle anything that is needed from him. I had also the distinct pleasure of serving on the culture committee with Joseph and his contributions not just in that meeting but in every interaction he had with his colleagues made coming to work each day such a joy. Lastly, this guy is very very funny, he won our much heralded caption competition - and I am sure he will bring a good sense of humor to all future endeavors.
