Inspiring teacher with a heavy focus on mathematics pedagogy and relationship building. Experience of teaching Key Stages 3 to 5 including GCSE (2012 and 2015 specification), A Level and Level 3 Qualification in Mathematical studies (also known as 'Core Maths'). Focus on work in school is to combine outstanding relationships with students and staff with outstanding teaching and learning practices through the best mathematical pedagogy which puts the power of the learner at the centre of the lesson planning. Research into maths pedagogy has focussed on work with the Association of Teachers of Mathematics, whose guiding principles shape my teaching. I have been actively involved in school life and I am an experienced staff member on residential trips, including Normandy, Berlin and Barcelona. My experiences teaching have been published in the journal Mathematics Teaching. Show less

    • Constituency Organiser
      • Sep 2010 - Aug 2012

Running the election campaigns and co-ordinated the non-election campaigning for Cambridge Liberal Democrats. Wide ranging responsibilities included setting the overall messages for the campaigns, strategic planning, co-ordinating activists and volunteers, writing the letters and leaflets, providing political advice to the Member of Parliament and the council groups. By attending council group meetings I gave advice on policy decisions for the running of Cambridge City Council, which required an ability to assess the broader picture of a policy suggestions, and consider the political implications of a proposal. As election agent, I was legally responsible for the election campaign, its messages and its finances. This required skills of project management, medium and long term planning, political and persuasive communication, volunteer management, leaflet design, financial management and attention to detail with record keeping. In the lead up to, and during, the general election campaign of 2010, I worked for a political telephone bank. Our principle role was to call potential voters and identify key pieces of information about their views on behalf of political candidates. One of the many challenges was how to approach a conversation with a voter who was unhappy about receipt of a call from a political group, or who had strong and vocal views on politics. I believe working in this field taught me excellent diplomacy skills, as well as a calm, honest and polite telephone manner. Show less

While studying for A Levels, I also worked part time as a checkout assistant at a local supermarket. Doing this while studying gave me excellent time and workload management skills and a strong work ethic. I also gained valuable experience in working in a team, people skills, communications skills and handling money.
