As a board member, and for two years the secretary, of the Danville Community Board of School Trustees, I helped to create and implement policy pertaining to the operation of the board and school corporation as a whole. In particular, I headed efforts to make elections of board members more immediate and fair to constituents, worked with the other board members to find the best talent for the position of Superintendent of Schools, and oversaw an increase in school performance that put Danville Community School Corporation in the top 8% of schools in the state of Indiana. Furthermore, the board is intrinsically involved in the development, implementation, and the monitoring of the school corporation's budget, over twenty-five million dollars annually. The board also approves all personnel decisions for the corporation. Show less
