• Mechanical and electrical repairs. For example, 2 stroke/4 stroke engines, diesel engines and electrical tooling like, vacuums, medium and heavy breakers. • I learnt how to operate and use the Ashtead operating system to report repairs and finish job cards. Once repaired and cleaned up I complete the paperwork to say its ready for hire. • I have set targets of completing 10 jobs a day and once a particular piece of equipment is requested from a customer I have until the end of the day to make sure its ready and all good to go. This helps me with my prioritizing my skills. Show less

Foundry apprentice
-
Sep 2014 - Sep 2015
Westley’s was one of the last foundry groups in the west midlands. Within this company I learnt from the best mentors from the machine shop, quality, maintenance and foundry departments. Working with each department I learnt a variety of skills from • Welding, fabricating. • Electrical and mechanical repairs from lathes, 3 phase machines, gearboxes, drive shafts and servicing the machines, every three months. • When working in the maintenance department I also did a project which involved the foundry having a new cooling system built in, by using solar panels and very large fans which would cool down the furnace. We did this, so the company could improve their profits and save money. • Within the quality department I learnt how to inspect and correct the samples from the furnace. This is so they had the right mixture in the furnace before casting metals. • I also learnt how to operate a lathe and cnc machines. This could be cuts from 10mm to 100th of a inch, if not smaller. This has helped me with my numerical skills. Show less
