Redesign and development of Invitron's flagship device a blood test diagnostics device aiming to be the first high sensitivity chemiluminescence device in a point of care setting. Researching, Ideating and Prototyping the touch screen interface ready for user testing. Significantly reducing the overall package size of the device ensuring improved ergonomics, usability and cost of manufacture. Project can be seen in my portfolio. This was my part time job while I was in school and university. It includes work in the construction industry i.e. Building work, landscaping, carpentry and a small amount of plumbing and electronics. I feel it is this type of work that has helped develop my strong practicle understanding and given me great experience with hard work. This was my part time job while I was in school and university. Completed my placement year here, working as a student design engineer in the accessories department. Whilst at Triumph i was invloved with many different parts of the product development process, for example, CAD development, Prototyping, prototype part testinging and evaluation, Engineering drawings, Supplier communications. The detailed induction process at the start of the placement gave me a great understanding of how all of the parts of the company work together to produce the great product range. The placement also included 2 weeks intence CAD training to build on what had been taught at university. Show less

I completed a placement here over my Easter holidays. I learnt a lot about prototyping and model making, from 3D printing laser cutting and resin casting to hand painting life like models. Amalgam produce a massive variety of work and it was a great place to experience and learn from in my time off from study. Within my time here i was also involved with helping quote for a job with Rolls Royce heritage and got to visit their Bristol site. I completed a placement here over my Easter holidays. I completed a weeks work experience at Tri-Walls Monmouthshire based samples design office. I experienced how their packaging solutions go from brief, to a Sample, to a fully mass produced package and the time frames involved. In my time at Tri-wall I was taken around to see their mass production factory, as well as their specialities factory. I spent time working in the samples room where the boxes are prototyped. My favourite part was working in the design office where I was given two briefs to complete. The first was for a cardboard shelf and the second was to redesign their card samples box. Completing these briefs gave me valuable experience, firstly on how design teams work together to complete their briefs and secondly on working with the materials, learning the tolerances and specific CAD packaging software. I completed a weeks work experience with Chandler KBS, shadowing the Programme manager at The Works site in Ebbw Vale. I spent time looking at Project Management techniques implemented in the construction industry. I was able to see first hand how they worked as I was involved in key meetings and I had the opportunity to help design the projected percurement plan for a roadway including a roundabout, bridge and slip road with a budget around £3.5 million.
