The European Studio is tasked with producing insight driven product experiences across mobile technology, domestic appliances and home entertainment. As Head of Design I creatively directed a multidisciplinary team of 10, including both colour and material specialists and industrial designers. As well as the design and delivery of products to market, much of our work helped to identify new design languages and experiences for LG's global portfolio. As a Senior Design Specialist my role was to formulate a creative strategy and design direction for a portfolio of over 10 products, including technology mapping, UX design and colour and material definition. This included global trend reviews and real time ethnography sessions in China, India and London. Additionally we were tasked with helping to define directions for visual communications, in order to clearly link the external campaigns to the design story behind each of the devices.

As a Senior Design Manager at Nokia I was responsible for establishing the Xpress Music sub brand and a portfolio of products spanning two generations. This included an R&D visioning process, user interface definitions and the development of the products and accessories through to manufacture.

At Virgin Atlantic I worked as part of the in-house Design group and was lead designer for several projects, most notably the Upper Class Suite. As part of an in-house R&D team, we conceptualised the fundamentals of the space envelope and unique mechanism, used in two generations of product. In addition I was lead designer for the cabin interior, including bar and all trim and finish. As a design team we were not only responsible for the generation of ideas but also for manufacture and final delivery into service. Other projects included an in-flight entertainment system and premium economy seating. Show less

Working with the LEGO future product group in Milan, my role was to conceptualise new products aimed at the 3+ age range. At the core was the idea of blending the physical qualities of LEGO with the digital. The final concept was a new product which allowed the user to build their own melodies by using digitally enabled blocks.
