I achieved promotion to Head of Secondary, in addition to my roles as Head of English, Head of EAL and English classroom teacher. My responsibilities include setting up and maintaining the school's iSAMS database system for attendance, behaviour and timetabling, as well as creating and managing separate academic data-tracking systems on the school's Google Drive.Furthermore, I have re-introduced Performance Management within the secondary school in order to improve teaching and learning standards; this has been implemented alongside a new integrated approach to CPD that enables all staff to take ownership of their own professional development and to promote the sharing of expertise across the school.As part of my role, I have attended weekly senior leadership meetings to discuss the direction and progression of the school. I have also disseminated information in meetings with secondary staff and with Heads of Department, as well as delivering inset to secondary and whole-school faculties when appropriate. Show less

In addition to my teaching duties in the subject of English, I have taken responsibility for leading the English Department. My duties include creating and implementing schemes of work, designing methods to track student progress and achievement, creating and managing department resources, disseminating information to colleagues by leading department meetings and coordinating staff performance management. I also ensure colleagues feel supported and promote self-development, particularly in my role as a mentor to Early Careers Teachers, by providing CPD sessions as a department in areas such as planning and moderation.I have led and overseen a steady, year-on-year improvement in department results at IGCSE and A-Level, including helping teachers and students to navigate the difficult return to examinations after the global pandemic. To continue to develop and improve standards across the department, I have introduced the English Literature course at IGCSE to provide better opportunities for more able students when applying to universities, while also introducing the General English Paper as an alternative qualification for students undertaking A-Level studies.Additionally, from August 2019-2020, I was responsible for the Humanities Faculty, including the subjects of Business Studies, Geography, History and Global Perspectives; however, due to the expansion of the school, this is now an independent department.In August 2023, I once again took responsibility for the EAL Department as Head of English due to structural changes within the school.I helped the school to achieve BSO and CIS accreditation status in 2022. In my capacity as an English Teacher, I am responsible for delivering the English curriculum to secondary students in an international school across KS3, 4 and 5, including First Language English at IGCSE and English Literature at A-Level. This has involved taking responsibility for tasks such as lesson planning, marking class work and maintaining an accurate record of pupil progress. In my role as Head of EAL, which continued until August 2019, I was responsible for assessing students’ additional language needs across the school, as well as organising and delivering intervention when required. I took the initiative in rewriting the school’s EAL Policy, setting up and maintaining accurate and up-to-date electronic registers and records, implemented a baseline test for incoming students and introduced a weekly extra-curricular EAL Club for students. In addition, I launched the school’s IELTS program to benefit Sixth Form students applying to universities in English-speaking countries. I also supervised a group of students attending the HMUN event in Beijing in February 2019.To promote EAL and CPD across the school, I developed and delivered teaching- and CPD-based resources for whole-school use, accessible through the Google Drive, and regularly delivered training sessions to local staff to improve their English language skills.
