  Using ES6+ modern JavaScript, React, Redux, Java 11, Spring Boot, Docker, AWS ECS EC2/Fargate, Terraform, Selenium, Cypress, GitHub Actions. BlackCat was a software consultancy focused on building the right software, and building it right. I worked on compliance and ethics tooling for a US client, helping Fortune 500s stay compliant and reduce risk. I owned some interesting pieces of work during my core software engineering day to day work like a HRIS system integration, and reforming the troublesome batch import process. The project used Java, Spring, React, and Cypress. For infrastructure it used AWS Fargate, Terraform, and GitHub Actions for CI. I spent a lot of time advocating for continuous delivery, we went from deploying a big batch of 2 weeks work together to being able to deploy every PR independently - something I was proud of. This involved moving our team from hand rolled deployment scripts that had downtime on every deployment to Fargate ECS to facilitate zero downtime deployments. I wrote CI/CD pipelines to automatically deploy into the staging environment, and a 'one-click' deployment to prod. I also ran some knowledge sharing sessions to help others understand how our CI/CD pipelines work. As well as how ECS, Docker and Terraform work. Show less
