The operations team at Trinity Grammar School identified that there was a demand for a cafe on Saturdays while sporting fixtures take place. I was given the opportunity to lead the operations team, using my experience from working at Cedrus Lebanese Restaurant to establish an operations manual for the cafe. This has been a great project and challenge for me as it has given me insight into the processes of starting a small business.As a cafe manager, I have honed a diverse set of skills that are crucial for overseeing and operating a thriving cafe. Communication and interpersonal skills have been pivotal in my role, as I interact with customers, staff members, and suppliers on a daily basis. Through experience, I have become adept at active listening, problem-solving, and addressing customer concerns promptly, ensuring a positive experience for all.Organisational and time management skills have become second nature to me as I handle inventory management, supply ordering, and staff scheduling. These skills enable me to run a smooth operation while maximising efficiency and profitability.Being a cafe manager has allowed me to truly embrace my leadership abilities.
