Interpreting New Zealand is an independent, not-for-profit society that aims to support effective communications between non-English speakers and government agencies or private businesses. As their interpreter, I was sent to a variety of assignments and dealt with people within a range of different professions: social workers, nurses, doctors, police detectives, lawyers, judges and psychologists. I was also the interpreter for the All Blacks – Pumas rugby game in Wellington in September 2012.
